How Lenovo AP Hosted Their Annual Top Gun Training Event with Canapii
Lenovo's internal training programme for 3,100+ top executives ran on Canapii with 188 sessions and gamification-based certification tracking.
About the Event
The Lenovo AP Top Gun event is an internal training programme aimed at top executives in the company. Participants are required to attend training videos, undertake tests on different subject matters, and complete their company certification -- all within a virtual environment that needed to feel as prestigious as the programme itself.
The Challenge
Lenovo needed a platform with custom branding and engaging experiences for 3,000+ attendees, who had to be assigned into different groups of attendee types. Each group dictated which sessions and engagements were required for their accreditation.
The platform had to support over 180 simultaneous sessions across three days, inclusive of pop-up polls, interactivity, and high-level analytics. A core component was tracking attendee activity, linking it to a checklist for certification requirements, and feeding data into a leaderboard that awarded badges to the top 100 most active attendees.
The Solution
Attendee type targeting
Canapii's attendee type feature allowed unlimited attendee types assigned to registration tickets or individuals, auto-sorting attendees into groups. The "Target attendees" function assigned specific types to sessions, so each participant only saw the training sessions mandatory for their certification -- an easy way to curate personalised attendee journeys.
Automated simulive sessions
The client used Canapii's simulive session option, meaning all 180 sessions could run automatically on schedule without any need for moderation or an event agency. This was critical for managing the scale of simultaneous content delivery.
Gamification and certification tracking
Canapii's gamification feature assigned points to mandatory sessions and pop-up quizzes, tracking which attendees had completed their requirements. This data fed into a visual checklist on each attendee's personal profile -- a bespoke element that Canapii developed specifically for this event. Fun features like iFrame games were also included to add variety.
Results
The event was very successful and well-received by all attendees. The easy-to-use interface meant participants could track their progress and ensure they were meeting all mandatory requirements for certification. Notifications and polling guided attendees throughout the event, while customisations met Lenovo's branding guidelines and added extra life with banners, games, and videos.
Lenovo's Top Gun programme was also rewarded with a third-place position for Campaign Asia's Best Corporate Award -- a testament to the quality of the virtual experience.
